Okay, thespians and thespian wannabees! Here's your chance to tread the boards. Audition opportunities are herein listed.

Renaissance Theatre/Mad Men Only Theatre

Location and Times:
Auditions will be held at Renaissance Theatre, 1214 Meridian Street in Huntsville. The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, Jan. 5 (2008) at 10:00 AM
Sunday, Jan. 6 (2008) at 3:00 PM
Possible call-backs will be on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 3:00PM
Director: Chuck Puckett
Cast Requirements: There are roles for 6 Men, 4 Women, and a Chorus. 2 of the men and 3 of the women must be in their 20's-early 30's. 1 of the men and 1 of the women are older (middle aged or older).
Synopsis: Strat Lancaster has saved the galaxy annually, ever since he graduated from the Academy. So a grateful galaxy plans to honor him at his class reunion. But things are not always what they seem. Cosmo Biggs, the most powerful tycoon in the Galactic Federation wants more than money, he wants EVERYTHING. The beautiful, yet sinister Queen Urana seems to have less than honorable intentions as well. And when Strat is grounded on a technicality, there seems to be nothing stopping the triumph of evil and greed. Add a mutating monster lurking in the background, a set of heroic Space Rangers, and lots of great tunes, and you have Space Rangers and the Viper Menace: Look out, Universe, here they come!
Be Prepared: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the play. You should also be prepared to sing a short vocal selection to display your voice. A keyboard will be available, but you'll need your own accompanist, or else bring a karaoke CD (a capella is also okay). Perusal copies of the script are available by emailing puckett_chuck at hotmail.com. You may listen to sample scores at www.puckettpublishing.com/songs/scores.htm (scroll down to find Space Rangers scores).

Panoply
10 Minute Play-Writing Competition
Panoply Arts Festival is accepting submissions to its 10-Minute Playwright Competition. 10-Minute Plays are a relatively new dramatic structure where the playwright develops a full plot with a beginning, middle and end within a production running time of seven to ten minutes. In our fast food society of short attention spans and commitment phobias, the Ten-Minute Playwright competition is the perfect literary-theatric combo meal to educate and expose the general public to bite size portions of the arts.
Panoply invites playwrights from across the United States to submit original scripts pertaining to the theme outlined below. These scripts will be judged by a panel of judges who will also produce the winning plays. The five selected playwrights will receive a $50.00 stipend for their work, and they will also be invited to attend Panoply and watch as their play is produced for the first time. Panoply will take the responsibility of working with area schools and drama troupes to produce each play five times in the park during the festival.
Panoply is one of the premiere arts festivals in the southeast. The festival is annually held in Huntsville, Alabama, the last full weekend of April. This celebration of the arts attracted over 140,000 people to downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring Park for Panoply 2007. The festival was conceived as a fine arts festival geared to children and their families. Panoply strives to offer the community a wide array of the arts including 5 performing stages that showcase the best in theater, music and dance, the Panoply Choreography Competition, a juried Art Marketplace with artists from across the US, many make-n-take activities for children and families, the Global Village, and the 10-Minute Playwright Competition.
