The Fairies devise a plan to hide Aurora deep in the forest disguised as a peasant girl until the time of the curse passes (Briar Rose). For sixteen years, Malificent’s Goons search for the baby, but the sorceress finally loses patience (Find the Girl!). On her birthday, the Fairies send Briar Rose to pick berries while they prepare a surprise. Surrounded by her animal friends, she daydreams about her true love (I Wonder, Once Upon a Dream). A mysterious man surprises Briar Rose (Once Upon a Dream – Reprise), but they dance and she invites him to visit her cottage that night, not knowing that he is Prince Phillip. Meanwhile, after sixteen years of no magic, the Fairies use their wands to prepare the birthday party (A Little Magic Now). Drawn to the forest by the magic, Malificent’s Goons overhear the Fairies tell Briar Rose that she is Princess Aurora and must return to the castle that night. Briar Rose is upset that she will not be home to meet her new friend. At the castle, Malificent tricks Aurora into touching a cursed spindle (A Curse on the Princess – Reprise), and the Princess falls fast asleep.
