Welcome to this week’s edition of Theatre Happenings, a compendium of imminent productions in the North Alabama and South Central Tennessee area (for all the theatre-goers), as well as a head’s up about upcoming auditions (for all the actors, most of whom are also theatre-goers).

Kiss Me KateGrissom Fine Arts Department presents Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate".Date and Times:

Feb. 24th at 2:00 p.m.All performances at the Grissom High School Auditorium in Huntsville.Synopsis: Set in 1948 Baltimore, KISS ME, KATE, presents a troupe of colorful actors performing The Taming of the Shrew—the Musical. The backstage warfare of a theatrical couple parallels their onstage roles as Kate and Petruchio. The on- and offstage mishaps and triumphs change direction when a pair of thugs comes on the scene to recover a gambling debt and are thrust into the world of Shakespeare. The story is played out by a group of traveling players lead by the “Leading Player”, who conducts the young man on his quest to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. The Young prince Pippin comes home from his studies and tries to “find himself”, as most young people do at one time or another.
