A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Forum
Theatre UAH presents "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".

Synopsis: Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written. It is the perfect escape from life's troubles; a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for his freedom. Movin' Out
Broadway Theatre League presents "Movin' Out".
Date and Times:

Synopsis: Told through the choreography of Twyla Tharp and more than two dozen of Billy Joel’s songs, MOVIN' OUT is the story of lifelong friends through two turbulent decades that change them and the world around them forever. Songs like “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” and “Pressure” all come together to weave a musical backdrop which beautifully complements Tharp’s innovative choreography. The songs and dance take audiences through a poignant narrative comprised of three main elements: post-World War II idealism, the Vietnam War and its subsequent unrest, and finally, survival.

Cinderella
Butler Theatre Company presents "Cinderella", by Mike Chappell.

Synopsis: "Classic" meets "new" in this musical retelling of Cinderella and the Prince, the evil Stepmother and stepsisters Laziolla and Whinella, a Fairy Godmother with a mind of her own, a narrating statue, and the Prince's stepping knights Slaythius, Nofearius and Ralph. It's the classic story like you've never seen it...written by local director, teacher and playwright Mike Chappell!

The Crucible
Theatre Huntsville presents "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller.
Date and Times: 

March 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 at 7:30 PM 
March 16, 22 at 2:00 PM 
All performances at VBC Playhouse in Huntsville.
Synopsis: The Crucible tells the story of the Salem witch trials. In 1692, in Salem, Massachusetts, the townspeople were seized by the fear of witchcraft, brought on by accusations of a few young girls. One by one, the people of the town were brought before the court and forced to defend themselves against charges that they had conspired with the Devil. One farmer, whose wife had been falsely accused, challenged that the proceedings were based on lies and superstition, and soon found himself accused. Always present was the threat of the hangman's noose.

Other Info: The Crucible is a 1953 play by Arthur Miller, based on events of the Salem witchcraft trials. The story takes place in a small Puritan village in the colony of Massachusetts in 1692. Miller uses these event as an allegory for McCarthyism and the Red Scare, which was a period in the 1940s and 1950s in which Americans were in fear of communism and the government blacklisted accused communists.

Almost Blue
Renaissance Theatre Alpha Stage presents "Almost Blue" by Keith Reddin.

Synopsis: A man just released from prison. A second man with a mysterious occupation. A third man who shows up with murder on his mind. A femme fatale who’s playing all three men for her own gain. These are the physically and emotionally abused characters in Keith Reddin's extremely dark comedy Almost Blue, an exercise in classic film noir set on stage.

Renaissance Theatre announces auditions for "Shakespearean Shorts".
Date and Times: 

Sunday, March 9th at 2:00 pm 
Auditions will be held on the Alpha Stage at Renaissance Theatre.
Synopsis: Shakespearean Shorts is a troupe of actors who love the Bard. This year, they will perform at Panoply 2008, throughout the summer at various events, and end the year with a brand new showcase in conjunction with Renaissance Theatre. SOME OF THESE GIGS MAY BE PAID.

Theatre Huntsville announces auditions for "Henry IV, Part I" by William Shakespeare.
Date and Times: 

March 16-17, 2008 
Auditions will be held at the VBC Playhouse in Huntsville.
Synopsis: The King is at war with France, and the Prince of Wales is found in a tavern.  When civil war erupts father and son must unite to save the throne against enemies foreign and domestic.

Harvey
Theatre Huntsville announces auditions for "Harvey".
Date and Times: 

March 30 & 31, 2008 
Auditions will be held at Fantasy Playhouse, 3312 Long Ave, Huntsville.
Synopsis: When Elwood P. Dowd starts to introduce his imaginary friend, Harvey, a pooka in the shape of a six-foot, three and a half-inch tall rabbit, to guests at a society party, his society obsessed sister, Veta, has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter Myrtle Mae and their family from future embarrassment. A comedy of errors ensues as the staff tries to determine just who is sane and who isn't.

Bye Bye Birdie
Lawrenceburg Community Theatre announces auditions for "Bye Bye Birdie".
Date and Times: 

Fri-Sat, April 18-19, 6-8 p.m 
Auditions will be held Coleman Methodist Church fellowship hall on North Military, 4 blocks north of the square in Lawrenceburg, TN.
Synopsis: Familiar musical being performed the first weekend during the Centennial Celebration of Lawrence County High School in Lawrenceburg, TN, as entertainment for visiting alumni and general audiences. Continuing the next two weekends.
Directed By: Dolly B. Leighton
Cast Requirements: Main roles available include Rose Alvarez, Kim Macafee, Conrad Birdie, Harry & Doris Macafee (parents), Randolph Macafee (juvenile), and a host of teens and adults. Singing required. Dancers also needed.
Be Prepared: May bring a prepared solo. Will be asked to sing music from the show. Cold readings required. Auditioners are encouraged to visit our website for more info.
