Upcoming Productions

These are the shows either currently in production, or else coming up within the next two weeks.

Renaissance Theatre
Almost Blue
Renaissance Theatre Alpha Stage presents "Almost Blue" by Keith Reddin.
Date and Times:

March 28 & 29, 8pm
Thursday night special, March 27, 8pm
All performances at Renaissance Theatre Alpha Stage, 1216B Meridian St., Huntsville.

Chuck's Note: I don't make this a habit, but I need to say it: Go see this play. "Almost Blue" is four incredible actors and a director at the very top of their game. Miss it and you'll miss a performance people will talk about for a year and a day.

Synopsis: A man just released from prison. A second man with a mysterious occupation. A third man who shows up with murder on his mind. A femme fatale who's playing all three men for her own gain. These are the physically and emotionally abused characters in Keith Reddin's extremely dark comedy Almost Blue, an exercise in classic film noir set on stage.
Directed By: Sam Marsh
Tickets: Evening performances, $12. Matinee, $10. Thursday, Mar. 27, $10.
Contact: phone 256-536-3117
Other Info: Asst. Director Samantha Musto. Starring: Jason Graham, Phil Parker, Billy Jenkins & Terri King.

Synopsis: Yes, Sam Spade, Joel Cairo, Gutman, the Femme Fatale, "the Kid," and that ebony raptor all come to life at Renaissance Theatre on their Alpha Stage! It's the first official stage adaptation of the story that spawned the hardboiled detective novel, that sparked the Film Noir movement, and which still speaks to us all through its provocative banter, its double- and triple-crosses, and its streetwise "detective speak"-all giving a gripping reality to crime fiction. This living, breathing pulp magazine will reach from the shadows to take you by the throat with its treachery!

They must audition first (of course) and then musically tell the exciting, dramatic, funny (and slightly exaggerated) story of her life. In addition to Rosie and her friends Alligator, Kathy, Pierre and Johnny, there is her dopey sister Chicken Soup.
