[Year Of Being 56] Year of Being 56 Blog Update: RSS Feed and Blog Registration

A quick note for those who would like to keep up with the (almost) daily
editorials, essays, and, yes, metaphysical ramblings that make up my entries
to The Year of Being 56 blog.

 

First, if you'd like to receive an email whenever a new entry is created,
that can be accomplished by registering for what is called an RSS Feed,
another name for "receiving an email whenever a new entry is created." You
can do that by visiting

the blog itself (www.yearofbeing56.com), where there are a couple of
registration buttons. One will register you to receive mail for each new
blog entry, and then there is a separate registration to receive comments
made about blog entries. Signing up for one does not automatically enable
the other.

 

There's also a place to register for these email notices on the Contact page
of my main web site:

Secondly, if you'd like to be a part of the blog process, and actually make
comments on the blog postings, that too is possible, but you have to
actually register yourself "in the blog" (anybody can read the entries, but
to tack your comments onto a posting requires blog registration, which is
separate from the RSS Feed described above). Blog registration can likewise
be done on the blog site itself (there's an unobtrusive "Register" button
down the right hand sidebar, and a "Login" button, which allows you to make
comments after you've registered). Or take this shortcut to registering:

I imagine a few people who "registered" when the blog was first announced
(you know who you are!) may have imagined they would be getting regular
notices about entries, and have wondered why it has been so silent. Well,
the truth is, you had only registered for the privilege of adding comments
to the blog. If you check back, you'll see that there's been quite a bit of
posting going on, and you'll probably want to sign up for the RSS Feed.
